Sri Lanka – Ancient Temples and Timeless Traditions
Day 1: Arrival in Colombo
Arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport. Transfer to your hotel and relax.
Evening: Optional short city tour or leisure time. Overnight in Colombo.
Day 2: Colombo – Anuradhapura
Drive to Anuradhapura, the ancient capital and sacred city of Sri Lanka. Visit Sri Maha Bodhi, Ruwanwelisaya Stupa, Jetavanaramaya Monastery, and other key historical sites. Overnight in Anuradhapura.
Day 3: Anuradhapura – Mihintale – Polonnaruwa
Morning excursion to Mihintale, the site where Buddhism was introduced to Sri Lanka. Drive to Polonnaruwa, explore the ancient ruins, including Gal Vihara, King Parakramabahu’s Palace, and Parakrama Samudra. Overnight in Polonnaruwa.
Day 4: Polonnaruwa – Sigiriya – Dambulla
Climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress and admire ancient frescoes and panoramic views. Afternoon visit to Dambulla Cave Temples, renowned for Buddha statues and colorful murals. Overnight in Dambulla.
Day 5: Dambulla – Kandy
Drive to Kandy through scenic landscapes. Visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa), an important Buddhist pilgrimage site. Evening: Enjoy a traditional cultural dance performance. Overnight in Kandy.
Day 6: Kandy – Peradeniya – Nuwara Eliya
Morning visit to Royal Botanical Gardens, Peradeniya. rive to Nuwara Eliya, passing through tea plantations, waterfalls, and scenic highlands. Evening: Stroll around Gregory Lake. Overnight in Nuwara Eliya.
Day 7: Nuwara Eliya – Horton Plains – Ella
Early morning visit to Horton Plains National Park, hike to World’s End for breathtaking views. Drive to Ella, visit Ravana Falls and enjoy the serene mountain landscapes.Overnight in Ella.
Day 8: Ella – Kataragama – Yala Area
Drive to Kataragama, a sacred pilgrimage site for Buddhists and Hindus. Continue to the Yala area. Overnight near Yala National Park.
Day 9: Yala – Matara – Galle
Morning safari in Yala National Park, spotting elephants, leopards, and exotic birds. Drive to Galle, explore the Galle Dutch Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and enjoy its historic streets. Overnight in Galle.
Day 10: Galle – Colombo – Departure
Drive back to Colombo. Optional city sightseeing or shopping depending on your flight schedule. Transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport for departure.
